If your not familiar with the idea of church planting, well, I'm probably not the best person to explain it to you. So I defer you to the explanation found here. Any one with thoughts, explanations, and/or opinions feel free to comment or add context.

I like the categories in the wiki link, although it's hard to imagine a split as a "church plant" but it probably happens a lot. Maybe it should be called "church cutting" or a "church rhizome."
