We used to have a sheet that was a lovely shade of blue. Over time and lots of washings it had become a little faded and worn. Then it got a little tear in it from someone cutting fabric for a project on a bed instead of a table....it may or may not have been me...... Well the hole wasn't so bad until two little girls decided to see if they could crawl through it.
The good news is I have been wanting to make a scrap fabric rug for quite some time now. I just couldn't justify ripping up a perfectly good sheet or tablecloth or bunch of fabric for it. So with the help of two eager fabric rippers we transformed that sheet into a lovely ball of fabric strips. Now we just need two more and we can start on our rug. But in the meantime the ball makes a very handy indoor soccer ball.
And wouldn't you know that one project idea would lead to another and we were off to find more fabric scraps of varying colors this time. Now my little helpers have a little reward for their assistance.
What do you think?

I've done the same thing - LOVE discarded sheets!

making a rag rug is one of the hugest things on my list that I haven't gotten to yet! Yay for getting started! I confess I may go actually buy a two dollar thrift store sheet to make mine when I actually get there.
