Notes on what's new

~I cut my hair, it's back to being short. I remembered two things about haircuts with this latest. 1. I don't have my husband help me because it always ends up about 5 inches shorter than intended, I remember this now. In his defense he really did not want to help. He must have remembered the last one. 2. I always want to cut my hair because I hate taking the time to do my hair. This gets worse when your hair is short. At least when it's long you can do a ponytail, bun, or braids and it looks like you were at least trying to do something with your hair. Not possible when it's short. The good news is my hair grows fast. I can already put it up in a mini pony tail, thankfully.

~I am back in contacts after 3 years of only wearing glasses. I don't know how I survived all this time without them. The world looks so much clearer, it's amazing. Seriously, it's like a whole new reality. And they even fixed my glasses that were so stretched out and mangled by little hands that they will actually stay on when I am wearing them. I can hardly believe it. I am having to wean my way back into wearing the contacts for extended periods without major headaches, but we're getting there. It sure is nice to run and be able to see and not have to worry about rain on my glasses.

~I've given myself permission to make mistakes with sewing. It has opened up a whole new realm of creativity to try new things. I love it. I think I'm going to figure out how to make my junky serger work and might even upgrade to a decent sewing machine one of these days. And just so you know, elastic thread is insanely awesome. And another thing to keep in mind is that I am just as happy as your local thrift store to take cast off fabrics and such. Seriously, 95% of my stuff is acquired this way. Nothing is too ugly to experiment with.

~Our church moved to a new facility last week and it was crazy emotional for me. Which I totally did not expect. At least I think it will make our last few Sundays in Portland not as emotional. I'm fairly certain I got it all out last weekend.

~Last week was our anniversary. 7 years. Crazy. Time sure flies, but at the same time I can't imagine things any different. I'm sure that feeling will get weirder every year.

~ Oh, and one more little thing.... Jeremy got a job in Salt Lake!!!! I guess that means we really have to figure out where we're going to live now. No more making excuses about not knowing where things stand. He's already signed the offer and they're flying him out next week to meet the big shots of the company. Thanks for your prayers!

Now we're on to 2 weeks of vacation life going in all directions from cheerleading tryouts to camping, to races, to just chilling out with family. Wish us luck.
