Bird Fabric

I really love a lot of the fabric at IKEA. I never buy it though because it feels overpriced. I don't really know that it is, it's just that I have this expectation of things at IKEA being cheap. So I never splurge on fabric there, it just seems like too much.

Last week when I stopped in there I found this piece in the remnant pile and for $5 I just had to take it home. The pictures don't really show how darn cute it is. It really is much better in person. I've been thinking over what it is meant to become the last few days. I'm thinking it will end up in my kitchen, to go with my hot pink mixer and cool bird motif serving tray of smilar colors I have.

Possibly an apron and maybe even curtains if my husband can stand the sight of screaming bright fabric like this in the most used space in the house....we'll see. I guess I need to look into getting my sewing machine fixed first.

This is what happens when I take too many pictures of random things. Children boycott  it by lying in the midst of my pictures and playing dead.

Oh, I love that! I really REALLY love the prints at IKEA and I have in the past tried to sew summer skirts for myself from their fabric. It hasn't turned out super well, though, I think because the fabric isn't that high quality. (And for $8 or more a yard, I could get some Amy Butler somewhere online!) Anyway, I've decided to stick with home dec projects for IKEA fabric from now on, although this makes me a little bummed because as declared before, I just love their prints.

I've drooled over this fabric too. Luckily I couldn't come up with a good use for it while I was there but it is so pretty

I haven't been to ikea in ages (it seems)- I love that fabric! It would look great in a kitchen, and on an apron! And you're right, something's got to tie into that crazy mixer! haha! I love it!

Despite living near an IKEA, it only recently came to my attention that they sell fabric! I got some for £3 a metre, which is super-super cheap for this country. I was really chuffed!
