Homemade Laundry Detergent

Powdered Laundry Detergent

2 cups finely grated soap (I used Fels Naptha)

1 cup washing soda

1 cup Borax

Mix well and store in an airtight plastic container.

Use 2 tablespoons per full load.

The kids love to grate it and mix it for me. It smells so sweet and clean. It is incredibly cheap. I don't know why we ever bought laundry soap.

What is washing soda?

I buy the arm and hammer brand. Comes in a yellow box and it is in the laundry soap aisle. You'll find it right next to the Borax usually. It can be added to laundry with regular detergent as a booster for getting out tough stains.

I love the homemade laundry soap!! I make the gel - easier for me to use with my front loader. A batch usually lasts me 3 months... LOVE IT!

FYI- Fels Naptha isn't vegetarian. :) I use a bar of Castile soap instead, when I make it... hmm... which I haven't done in awhile, actually! :)
